fashion LEIGH CAMPBELL: ‘Searching for the perfect pair of workout leggings? I’ve found them.’ Leigh Campbell

Welcome to the Nothing To Wear Edit where each week we curate the best picks from the topic we spoke about on the podcast. Listen to the full episode here.

No workout is complete without a pair of supportive leggings – you know, the ones that don’t split at the seams and aren’t transparent when you’re squatting.

And while you can find leggings pretty much everywhere, it’s not easy finding a pair that has it all. Good leggings should be comfortable, and breathable yet still manage to keep you in form.

They should also be versatile enough to go from one workout to another (and brownie points if it has a functional design).

I’ve searched high and low for the most trusted pair of workout leggings and managed to find options to suit every budget. So keep reading to see some of my favourites.

These are the Amazon leggings that went viral a few years ago. Am I a sucker for falling for the hype? You bet, but it was true in this instance because I have since bought four pairs.

Image: Lululemon.

The Align style of leggings is Lululemon’s most popular style. The fabric is super soft and you’re spoilt for choice with 12 colours to select from.

This mid-rise band is great for those with a shorter torso. The side pocket is handy to stash a tissue or your house keys.

Image: Stax.

Stax. is an incredible Aussie business success story, and Nandex is the brand’s signature fabric. The thick waistband makes you feel held in, but isn’t so tight that you feel restricted.

Image: Cotton On Body.

I love the super high waist of this style, and while I don’t actually exercise all that often, the moisture-wicking fabric means they are great for running around in, even in humid weather.

Image: Lorna Jane.

This style has a curve defining ‘V’ shape seam on the bottom, and the ‘Nothing 2 See Here’ fabric means you can squat and stretch without stressing about sheerness.

Leggings for $10 with over 100 glowing reviews?! Sounds too good to be true, but the votes don’t lie. Tempted to get the black to style with casual outfits over winter.

Image: Stylerunner.

I’ve tried many leggings over the years (a disproportionate amount to the amount of exercise I do) and I have to say, these are the softest ones I’ve tried. I sometimes forget I’m wearing pants.

Sure, these leggings look great, but they also have several QR codes on the inner waistband so you can scan your phone and select a workout to do – how genius is that?!

At Mamamia, we independently curate and write about products we rave about in our group chats and think you should know about too. If you purchase a product we have recommended, we may earn a small commission.
