fashion The essential items every tall girl should own, according to Those Two Girls’ Lise and Sarah. Sarah Wills and Lise Carlaw

Welcome to the Nothing To Wear Edit where each week we curate the best picks from the topic we spoke about on the podcast. Listen to the full episode here.

If you’re 5’10” and above, then the words “clothes shopping” most likely send shivers down your spine.

It’s a shame really, as it’s an activity many women enjoy taking part in — let’s face it, there is no bigger dopamine hit than buying a new outfit.

However, for tall women, it’s often accompanied by a breakdown in the fitting room because dresses look like shirts and jeans don’t fall where they’re supposed to.

Then there’s online shopping, which is a risk in itself. After hours of endless scrolling and rejecting piece after piece because they’re made for women 5’5″ and under, it’s easier to shut your laptop and call it a day.

But all hope is not lost. In fact, we consulted with Lise and Sarah, podcasters, presenters, and self-proclaimed “tall besties”, to tell us the pieces they’re currently loving and the staples they cannot live without.

So, let’s get into it.

Witchery Indigo Super High Rise Jean, $149.95.

A brilliant entry into relaxed blue jeans, with the length versatile enough for a sneaker or a mid-heel.

Ksubi Soho Lifetime, $219.95.

Ksubi jeans are deliciously long and regularly modelled by 180cm+ gals on the site.

Velvet blazer.

Sezane Aliota Jacket, $395.

A luxe blazer from French label Sezane is the ultimate answer to zjooshing even the simplest of outfits. Extra points for solid arm length for the tallies, too. It is more of an investment piece, but a velvet jacket never goes out of style.

TIP: size up if after a more relaxed fit across most of the Sezane range.

Party frocks.

ASOS DESIGN Tall Tiered Midi Fringed Dress, $199.

Image: ASOS.

ASOS has an entire ‘Tall’ clothing range that’s a dream for the 175cm+ crew: from leggings to trench coats, bridesmaid dresses to denim shorts, sequin pants to co-ord sets, and everything in between. Fast shipping and easy returns make it a great online shopping option for the long girls.

Matching sets.

Nude Lucy Lounge Stripe Linen Pant, $110; Lounge Stripe Linen Shirt, $110.

Huge fan of matching sets with elasticised drawstring bottoms, which means they can be positioned below the waist for extra leg length. Check out Nude Lucy, which always has a stack to choose from in various materials.

Button-down shirt.

SHEIKE Studio Stripe Shirt, $129.99.

This textured striped shirt is a classic, and it’s less than $130. The size of the cuffs are giving me life and I am obsessed with how stunning and premium it is IRL.

Yes, I’ll be buttoning her up all the way. Yes, I’ll also be wearing the sleeves down and gloriously long. Yes, I’ll be wearing it loose and out because it provides great bum coverage. Yes, I’ll be tucking it into jeans and tailored pants.

TIP: This is a generous, voluminous fit, so I landed on the size 8.

Levi’s Women’s Wedgie Straight Jeans, $149.95.

Image: Levi’s.

For a classic straight-leg silhouette that still gives shape, I can’t look past Levi’s Wedgie Straight style. I have them in two washes. I’m 5’10 and they’re the perfect 7/8 length for sneakers, ballet flats, slingbacks and sock boots. I’ve been known to unlock the hem of mine to give them some extra length and that distressed look.

An oversized blazer.

Nude Lucy Rana Blazer, $220.

For $220, these Nude Lucy beauties compete with other high-end blazers that are double — nay, triple the price.

TIP: These are already designed to be oversized, so stick to your normal size or go down. The sleeve length is also perfect for tall girls.

Shoes for larger feet.

Millwoods Poplar Pointed Flat, $230.

I’m loving a statement loafer this season and Aussie brand lady start-up Millwoods has some very cute dark blue and forest green velvet ones that go up all the way to a size 44! Music to my size 42 flippers.
